Emily Jansen, Memberships Manager at Meridian International Center
In February 2012, I joined the External Affairs and Development office of Meridian International Center as Memberships Manager. In this capacity, I manage our Development plans and initiatives for our Corporate Council, Advisory Council and the Meridian Council on Women’s Leadership.
Prior to joining Meridian International Center, I represented a local policy think tank as Development and Foundations Writer. Here, I provided administrative support for the Development department, wrote materials for supporters and prospects summarizing the impact of investments in the organization, and assisted in outreach to and communication with Foundations.
In 2009, I engaged in a year of service with the Rift Valley Academy in Kenya, where I worked with international boarding students and also conducted local microfinance lending projects and volunteer trips to Uganda and Morocco.
Before this, I fulfilled the role of Project Coordinator at JFW, Inc., a project management firm servicing clients in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area for new construction and renovation projects.
In 2008, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and discipline in History from the University of Maryland, Shady Grove University campus.
In 2006, I gave a solo piano performance at the Strathmore Music Hall in completion of 15 years of classical piano study, eight of which were spent at Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C. under the private instruction of Mrs. Svetlana Gorenman of Moscow, Russia.
I have kept this personal and travel blog for five years, and also enjoy writing poetry, traveling, road biking, triathlons, cooking, and photography.
I am a native of the state of Maryland.
