Merry Christmas from the Jansens

JAN. Olie-Bollen (Dutch Doughnuts) party on New Year’s Day!  Peter & Emily travel to Western Uganda for 14 days to serve alongside Covenant Life team-members for local outreach & missions; the Smith family move into the Jansen household for 3 months–what a blast!  FEB. um, lots of love? MAR. Nora comes East for her “hometown” baby shower with old friends, and to surprise Brett for his performance as Joseph in CLS’s drama production of “Joseph & The Technicolor Dream Coat.” APR. Peter and Brett fire up the Jansen Lawn Service for the 10th+ year; Brett participates on the CLS golf team. MAY. Emily graduates from the University of Maryland w/ a B.A. in Communication Arts and a discipline in history.   JUN. Susan “moves” to Phoenix for a month to help prepare for the birth of her first grandchild, Kate Elizabeth Shank, born 6/26/08 to Nora and Travis; Dennis & the boys go on their annual Father/Son golf trip to Gettysburg!   JUL. Emily takes her first, full-time job at JFW, Inc., 1 mile up the road!  AUG. Jansen/Smith families vacation together in Outer Banks, N.C. for 7 days; Peter starts Graduate Business School at University of Maryland, while still working at Alliance Bernstein as an investment analyst in D.C.  SEPT. Susan becomes certified in Pilates Mat instruction and begins teaching weekly classes out of our home and at a private studio in Bethesda. Emily and Susan add golf lessons to keep up with the boys.  OCT. Brett’s College Applications and On-site visits!  Mom’s 50th Birthday Dinner, for which Nora and Travis and Kate comes into town. Emily’s friend from Tucson moves in for 7 weeks while visiting with her boyfriend from Covenant Life. NOV. Dennis takes a generous voluntary separation package and comes home from Sunrise Senior Living after working there for 5+ years and starts doing consulting from his home office; the Jansen clan heads out to Phoenix for Thanksgiving week to stay at the Nams’ house with Nora and Travis for good food, hiking, golf, shopping,  birthday and anniversary(30 yrs) celebrations, and lots of Kate-time.  Dennis breaks 100 @ Las Sendas!!!  DEC. peaceful Christmas at home in Maryland; Dad braves the chilly afternoons to lay a flagstone walkway leading up to our front door.  Brett, Emily, and Dennis all participate in the CLC Drama/Choir production.
